Project Creation Guidelines

Be The People is intentionally non-partisan. Everyone across the political spectrum contributes to the American story, and BTP encourages participation from all perspectives, as long as submissions focus on community impact, not political advocacy. A solution that fills a policy gap or provides access to support a group of Americans is generally allowable. Supporting a group is different from advocating for a politician that shares the same principles.

What to Include:

• Project name (50 characters max)-Example: Pure Paws Pet Rescue
• Short description (200 characters max)-Example: Pure Paws Pet Rescue is a volunteer-driven dog rescue focused on saving at-risk dogs, providing care, and connecting them with loving homes.
• Project image (600 x 600 pixels)
• Location (specific ZIP code)

A few notes

• If you’re part of an organization, use your organization’s name as the Project name. Example: Habitat for Humanity Atlanta
• If you’re an individual, use your Project page to clearly describe the specific effort or initiative you’re leading

What to avoid

• No Impersonation: Don’t present yourself as another person or speak on behalf of a brand you’re not affiliated with.
• Do Not Duplicate or spam content: Avoid posting the same content multiple times or creating multiple accounts.
• No Malicious Spam: Don’t direct people to sites that could compromise their privacy or security.
• Avoid Low-quality or auto-generated content: Content should be thoughtful, clear, and created with intention.
• No False Schemes: No ads, giveaways tied to actions, multi-level marketing, or other pyramid schemes.
• Avoid Misuse of AI: Do not create stories generated by AI for nefarious purposes (e.g., to drive negative SEO, or to portray public figures in deepfakes).
• Avoid Mis/Disinformation: Moderators aren’t fact checkers; known disinformation is allowable as long it’s pertinent to a story of contribution and it doesn’t violate any other moderation guidelines. Content framed as advice that is potentially harmful needs to be considered carefully.
