How-To: Create a Story

A story is a short piece of content that shows impact: how it happened, who it helped, and why it matters (often with photos/video). Follow the steps below to create a new story on the platform. Click here to watch a short tutorial for a step-by-step overview.

How to create a story

1. Navigate to create

In the top right-hand corner of the home page, click on the 'Create' button.

2. Select 'Add your story'

Choose this option from the menu.

3. Select a project

To upload a story, you must first have a project set up under your profile. Select the project you want to link to link it to. Upload your video: You have two options: attach a video from your device, OR embed a Youtube link.

Option 1: Upload a video from your device

• MP4 or MOV format
• File Size Minimum of 720p (1280x720); 1080p (1920x1080) recommended
• File Size Maximum of 250MB

Option 2: Paste/Embed a Youtube video in the box

4. Add story details

• Title (50 character max)
• Description (280 character max)
• Select a thumbnail: Default Video Thumbnail OR Upload a Thumbnail

5. Apply tags

Add optional tags to help people discover your story. You can select up to 5.

6. Preview and Submit

Select Continue to preview the story, and then select Submit for Review.

7. Submit Story for Review

Submit the story for review by the Be The People platform’s admin team. You will receive an email with a status update shortly.
