The Treasurer serves as the Board’s lead financial steward and a strategic partner to organizational leadership.
This is not a bookkeeping position. Anthony’s Circle has bookkeeping support responsible for day-to-day accounting and financial administration. The Treasurer provides financial oversight, helps ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, and brings financial perspective to budgeting, planning, and organizational decisions.
Because we are a growing nonprofit, we are looking for someone who enjoys both financial stewardship and building: someone who can help us strengthen our systems today while creating the financial practices we will need tomorrow.
What You’ll Do
Financial Oversight & Governance
Remote
- Serve as the Board’s lead financial officer and provide regular financial updates to the Board.
- Review monthly financial statements, budget-to-actual performance, cash position, and financial forecasts.
- Partner with organizational leadership and our bookkeeper to ensure accurate, timely, and understandable financial reporting.
- Monitor appropriate financial controls, policies, and practices.
- Help the Board understand financial risks, opportunities, and implications of major decisions.
Budgeting & Financial Strategy
- Partner with leadership to develop and monitor Anthony’s Circle’s annual operating budget.
- Bring creativity and resourcefulness to budgeting in a growing nonprofit environment where resources must be used thoughtfully.
- Help develop financial scenarios and forecasts that support organizational growth and sustainability.
- Support planning around cash reserves, program investments, and future staffing.
Accounting & Compliance Oversight
- Be comfortable navigating QuickBooks and reviewing the organization’s financial records and reports.
- Provide knowledgeable review and oversight of bookkeeping practices without being responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping.
- Bring sufficient nonprofit accounting and tax knowledge to review and ask informed questions about Form 990, required filings, restricted funds, and other financial compliance matters.
- Help identify and connect Anthony’s Circle with pro bono or affordable CPA, accounting, tax, and financial expertise when specialized support is needed.
Board Leadership
- Participate as an active member of the Anthony’s Circle Board of Directors.
