Role Overview:
The House of Spain seeks a semi‑retired or retired individual, deeply passionate about Spanish culture, history, or heritage, to serve as Board Development Chair. This pivotal volunteer leader will guide all resource‑development efforts—donor relations, grant writing, and sponsorship acquisition—to advance our mission and cultural programs.

- Develop and implement an annual fundraising strategy: major gifts, grants, and sponsorships
- Chair the Development Committee: coordinate meetings, set fundraising goals, and monitor progress
- Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, and grantors
- Collaborate with board and staff to prepare compelling proposals and sponsorship packages
- Encourage active board engagement in fundraising through giving, outreach, and network activation
- Serve as the primary liaison to development staff and external funders
Qualifications:
- Semi‑retired or retired professional with strong ties to or passion for Spain
- Proven experience securing donations, writing grants, or developing sponsorships
- Excellent networking, communication, and relationship‑building skills
- Strategic mindset with the ability to lead a committee and deliver on targets
- Enthusiasm for engaging board members and volunteers in fundraising activities
- Commitment to the cultural mission and community of the House of Spain
