In just two hours, volunteers will transform simple ingredients into thousands of servings of our hearty pasta with tomato basil sauce entrée, a nutritious, shelf-stable meal created to provide both nourishment and comfort to seniors facing food insecurity. These meals will be distributed through the Greater Chicago Food Depository, as well as local pantries, to the most vulnerable of our seniors.

No special skills are needed, just willing hands and a generous heart. Volunteers will work together in energetic assembly lines, led by table leaders, measuring ingredients, filling and sealing meal packages, boxing completed meals, and preparing them for distribution to seniors throughout the community.

Please arrive between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, November 1st, for check-in and preparation. We’ll provide aprons, hair nets, and beard nets, where applicable, along with everything you need to participate.

For many older adults, food insecurity can mean difficult choices between groceries, medicine, utilities, and other necessities. Together, we can make one of those choices a little easier. This is what happens when a community decides that caring is not simply something we feel. It is something we do.

Comfortable, relaxed clothing and shoes are recommended.

A DJ will ensure high-vibe entertainment during the event!
