Join Central Arizona Animal Rescue’s Exotic Division in caring for adoptable rescue rabbits at our PetSmart partnership location near the 101 & I-17 in Deer Valley!
Our volunteers help ensure that the rabbits staying at this location receive consistent, compassionate care while they wait to find their forever homes. This is a great opportunity for animal lovers who would like to make a hands-on difference in the lives of rescue animals. No previous rabbit or rescue experience is necessary, we will provide training, guidance, and ongoing support.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Rabbit care volunteers help with basic daily care, including:

Age
- Replenishing hay and providing pellets + veggies
- Refreshing water
- Cleaning and maintaining comfortable living spaces
- Checking on each rabbit’s general well-being
- Communicating with the volunteer team about completed care and any concerns
Volunteers are also welcome and encouraged to spend time socializing with the rabbits and giving them supervised time outside of their enclosures for exercise, exploration, and enrichment. While this is not required, it is certainly one of the perks!
Qualifications
We are primarily looking for volunteers who:
- Have a genuine interest in helping animals
- Are dependable and able to follow basic care instructions
- Are comfortable working independently after receiving training
- Are willing to communicate with our volunteer team when needed
- Can treat the rabbits with patience, gentleness, and respect
No previous rabbit, animal-care, or rescue experience is required. We will teach you what you need to know to safely and confidently care for the rabbits.
Schedule & Commitment
Our greatest current need is for volunteers available Thursday through Saturday mornings or early afternoons, but we are extremely adaptable and happy to work with any schedule.
We understand that volunteers have work, school, family, and other commitments, so flexibility is important to us. Even if you are only able to commit to one visit per week/every other week or provide occasional coverage when needed, your help can make a meaningful difference.
