Volunteers are one of the most powerful ways Local First Arizona mobilizes communities across the state. By supporting our food access and community initiatives, volunteers help connect residents to fresh, nourishing foods while creating welcoming spaces that celebrate local food and the people who grow, make and share it.
Depending on the season, volunteers will help with watering, weeding, planting, harvesting and general garden maintenance.

Volunteers should bring plenty of water, sun protection & gardening gloves (if you have them). Parking available in the lot behind the El Rancho Del Sol apartments or on the street (on Ashland, off Main Street). The garden is behind the dumpsters in the back of the parking lot, surrounded by an orange gate. You’ll be performing plant maintenance, composting and harvesting.
Shifts are the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.
Shift times vary with the seasons:
7 a.m. - 9 a.m. May - September
8 a.m. - 10 a.m. October - April
