"Gotta Be Us" Lights Up Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh

An anthem about everyday Americans stepping up for one another is projected across Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Allegheny branch, home to a mission Andrew Carnegie founded on the same belief — that ordinary people deserve the tools to build a better life.
PITTSBURGH (July 28, 2026) — Last Friday at dusk, lyrics from "Gotta Be Us (Be The People)," an anthem about Americans stepping up for one another everyday, lit up the facade of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Allegheny branch.
Andrew Carnegie built libraries on the conviction that all people deserve access to the tools of self-betterment, a mission Carnegie Libraries continue today through early learning programs, job search assistance, and free computer and internet access for residents across the region. The library generously offered its building as the canvas for "Gotta Be Us (Be The People)," a fitting backdrop for a message rooted in that same spirit.
Released in June, "Gotta Be Us (Be The People)" was produced by five-time Grammy-nominated producer Jason Boyd (Poo Bear) and features emerging artists across R&B, soul, pop, country, and rap. Built around the idea in the lyric "we're the proof," the song reflects a core belief that real progress is built by everyday people who show up to contribute where they live.
The song is the musical entry point to Be The People, a 10-year effort to connect community problem-solvers with millions of Americans ready to do their part. Supported by a broad coalition of organizations, businesses, philanthropies, artists, athletes, and faith and cultural leaders, Be The People brings together thousands of proven, community-led solutions into a shared platform that shows people how to contribute and make a difference where they live.
