On October 2nd, the Be The People exhibition opened at the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream (MCAAD) in Washington, D.C.

The exhibition is free and open to the public, introducing and immersing visitors in Be The People’s national effort to ignite the American spirit, highlighting stories of Americans making a difference everyday in communities across the country.

The exhibition includes five primary features:

  1. A call-to-action video that discusses the role that Americans play in improving their communities.
  2. Interactive displays that take participants through history to interact and learn about how everyday people have impacted the country via civic action.
  3. Visual representations of how members of Be The People’s National Leadership Council are making a difference in communities throughout the country.
  4. A station focused on the “Gotta Be Us” song that allows visitors to listen to and remix the song through a series of prompts.
  5. A dedicated gallery that helps visitors learn more about Be The People’s work and search for ways to get involved in their communities through a zip-code lookup.

Research from the Library of Congress is also displayed, revealing early revisions to the Declaration of Independence, which helped define American autonomy and citizenship.

The exhibition at MCAAD builds on Be The People’s work to connect organizations and individuals with opportunities to solve problems in their communities, elevate those stories, and inspire others to do the same.

“In every corner of the country, there are people building, fixing, and solving their communities’ biggest problems. They’re proving that every contribution counts, that everyone has a part to play, and that a country of the people, by the people, and for the people means it’s up to all of us to Be The People.”
